Acanthus 'Summer Beauty' is believed to be a cross between Acanthus mollis and Acanthus spinosus.

It is a clumping perennial that grows to about four to five feet tall when in flower. The flowers are borne on a noticeable spike. The true flowers are white, but purple bracts create an additional point of interest. It is hardy in USDA Zones 6 - 10. It is best planted in full sun to part shade.

'Summer Beauty' has deeper cut, shiny leaves. It also has improved heat and humidity tolerance as compared to its parent plants.
